Jan 30th

Early Literacy Workshop:Science and Math for Little Kids at Beaverton City Library- 2 sessions- 10:30-11:30AM and 1-2PM.

Math and science activities geared for kids from 2-5 years with their adults. Registration is required at 503/350-3600 or sign up at the Children's Desk in person. Go to www.beavertonlibrary.org for more info.

Mommy and Me Mondays@ World Forestry Center from 10AM-11AM. Enjoy some entertaining stories and free coffee for parents every Monday through April in this new program! Included with admission fee of $8 per adult, $5 for kids over 3, and kids 2 years and younger are free! Afterwards- take your time and enjoy all of the hands-on exhibits. Year of the Dragon Celebrations@ Lan Su Chinese Garden (NW Portland) 10AM-5PM daily through Feb. 6th.

Sing & Sign Time with Dawn Prochovnic@ Garden Home Library at 10:30AM every Thursday through 2/16.

Join local author - Dawn Babb Prochovnic- as she leads a lively, interactive series of story times. Learn sign language with your kids and enjoy fun music, songs, and stories. This program is geared for families with children ages 2-4 but it's open to all ages. 1st Annual Laugh for the Arts@ Venetian Theatre and Bistro (263 E. Main St, Hillsboro) from 7:30-9PM.

FREE "Build a Valentines Keepsake Box"@ Home Depot stores (closest would be 4401 SW 110th Ave) from 9AM to Noon. Kids will learn tool safety and have fun working on this "hands-on" project. Free "Big Bowls of Chili" Technique Class@ Williams-Sonoma (Wash. Sq.) at 10AM.

Easy to make, hearty and versatile, chili can be as fun to garnish as it is to eat. You'll learn about the profiles of different chili powders and how to enjoy them, how to make a basic chili plus delicious variations including vegetarian, and ideas for tasty toppings.
