Handmade Holiday Cards for Adults@ Tigard Library from 7-8PM.

Preschool Storytime@ Beaverton Library at Murray Scholls Branch from 9:30AM-10:AM. Get your morning started with fun stories for kids from 3ish to 5 years old at the newest branch! Make a Lego Mini-Reindeer@ Lego Store (Wash. Sq.) from 5PM until supplies last! Free! Phone the store for more details at 503/670-9109. You can just never have enough Legos, can you? For kids from 6 to 14. Supplies are limited so arrive early. I have seen parents and kids line up at least 45 minutes ahead before!

The Elf on the Shelf reading@ Powell's Books at Cedar Hills Crossing at 7PM.

Co-author Chanda Bell will present a reading of The Elf on the Shelf. Touted as "the best thing since The Night before Christmas," each Elf on the Shelf gift set includes a hardbound children's book, a keepsake box, and an elf doll, who watches over kids from Thanksgiving until Christmas, reporting to Santa each night what he has seen. Great Expectations@ ACMA (11375 Center Street, Beaverton) at 7PM.

The Arts&Communications Magnet Academy Theatre Company will perform the Charles Dickens classic through Dec. 15th. This family friendly production follows the adventures of an orphan boy named Pip, who is given a chance to rise from his humble beginnings thanks to a mysterious benefactor. The Victorian coming-of-age story explores the different social classes of early 19th century England. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Beaverton Tree Lighting& Holiday Open House@ Beaverton City Library and City Park (5th and Hall) starting at 5PM.

Kick off the holidays with Santa& Mrs. Claus, a holiday workshop, and the Beaverton Community Band at 5PM at the library! ACMA'as student choir will entertain at 6PM at the park followed by the tree lighting at 7PM. Downtown Beaverton businesses will offer holiday treats, discounts, and entertainment from 7-9PM! We saw this show last weekend- very funny but some adult humor/language and mention of whether Santa is real,etc. so probably best for 10 years and up.
