Summer Reading!!!!

Hi! Everyone-

There are several summer reading programs that kick-off today!!!!

You can register your baby or child (through grade 5) in person at your local library or online at :

Even babies and tots who are read to for 15 hours are eligible!!!!

At Borders Books,kids 12 and under can read and then record 10 books on a special form and turn in for a free book!. Go to :

And Barnes and Noble has a similar program for school age kids (grades 1 through 6).

Beaverton Library even has an adult summer reading program with weekly prizes!

Splash into Summer Reading Kick-Off Carnival@ Garden Home Library (7475 SW Oleson Road, Portland) from 3 to 5PM.

Blow bubbles and try water bottle bowling! Stop by and play some watery carnival games to win stickers! Even babies can participate in most of the games. Sign up for summer reading while you are there! Be sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet and maybe bring a towel. Phone the Library for more details at 503/245-9932.

Make a Lego Mini-Grill@ Lego Store (Wash. Sq.) from 5PM until supplies last! Free! Phone the store for more details at 503/670-9109. You can just never have enough Legos, can you? For kids from 6 to 14. Supplies are limited so arrive early. I have seen parents and kids line up at least a half hour before!

U-Pick Strawberries@ Baggenstos Farm (15801 SW Rogers Road, Sherwood) starting in June from 9AM-6PM daily!

Have the kids gather the Hoods, Bentons, Shutkins and Totems. You can bake up the shortcakes later! It's strawberry season- YIPPEE!!!! Check out for details and for a farm fresh produce guide.

Mini-Masters Class@ My Masterpiece Art Studio (7905 SW Cirrus Drive-Parkside Business Center)from 10:30-11AMish. Painting on the ceiling inspired by Michaelangelo this week!!!! $8 per kid -ages 2 1/2 -5 years, you must phone ahead to reserve a spot at 503/453-3700. Go to for calendar and more info!

"Fish On" First Friday@ My Masterpiece Art Studio (7905 SW Cirrus Drive-Parkside Business Center) from 4PM to 7PM.
