Hi! Everyone-

Well, January zipped by in a blur with a BRRRrrr!

There are several cool events for parents this week including a free Williams-Sonoma Technique class, info on local Garden Clubs at Al's,& Parents Night Out at Garden Home. And there's Food for Fines at Tigard Library (scroll to Sunday) if you've racked up library fines with late returns!!!

Jan 31st

Book Babies@ Tigard Library from 10:30-11:30AM.

Share nursery rhymes, finger plays, songs and a simple book while developing early literacy skills. Stay and play after the program. Phone the library for more details at 503/684-6537.


Feb 1st

Science Fun@ Beaverton City Library from 2-4PM.

Kids in grades K-3 can explore science learning centers for beginning scientists along with a book corner of easy reading science books. Registration required!  Phone the library at 503/350-3600.

Preschool Storytime@ Beaverton City Library at Murray Scholls at 9:30AM. Get your morning started with fun stories for  kids from 3ish to 5 years old at the newest branch! Fun for Ones (Ages 12-24 months)@ Tigard Library from 10:30-11AM AND 11:30AM-Noon. Bring your one year old for songs, rhymes, simple stories and movement activities. Great for new walkers. Make a Lego Mini-Skier@ Lego Store (Wash. Sq.) from 5PM -6PM! Free! Phone the store for more details at 503/670-9109. You can just never have enough Legos, can you? For kids from 6 to 14. Supplies are limited so arrive early. I have seen parents and kids line up at least 45 minutes ahead before!


Feb 2nd

Teen Library Council Meeting@ Garden Home Library at 6PM

If you're in 6th-12th grade, then come over to the library for the first ever meeting of the Garden Home Teen Council!!! Become a member (free!), and work with other teens to develop programs, give purchase suggestions to the librarian, volunteer in the library and much more! First meeting is a pizza party!!! Wondrous First Wednesday@ World Forestry Center Discovery Museum from 10AM-5PM. Admission is reduced to $3 per person for kids from 3 to 103! Go to www.worldforestry.org and click on "Events" and then "Special Admission Offers" for more info.

"Baby Bear's Valentine Kiss" @ Ladybug Theater at Smile Station (8210 SE 13th Ave., Sellwood section of Portland) at 10:30AM. This show is geared for kids from 2 1/2 to 6 years old. Plenty of audience participation and the shows usually last 40 minutes. $3.50 per person but babes in arms are free. Pay at the door but you must phone to reserve tickets in advance at 503/232-2346. Head to the YUM-O! Sellwood Grand Central Bakery afterwards- there's a kid's room in back so you can eat while the tots play with the chalkboard,etc. Go to www.grandcentralbakery.com for menu,etc.

Year of the Rabbit Celebrations@ Lan Su Chinese Garden (NW Portland) 10AM-5PM daily through Feb. 17th

FREE Build a Wooden Valentine's Heart Shelf@ Home Depot stores (closest would be 4401 SW 110th Ave) from 9AM to Noon.

Food for Fines@ Tigard Library today through Feb. 12th.  Take a bite out of your fines (up to $10) by donating canned goods or non-perishable foods which will go to the Tigard St. Vincent DePaul food pantry.
