World Language Storytimes, "People of the Book" author, and Summer Sides!

Hi! Everyone-

The regular Beaverton Library storytimes are on hiatus for now but the World Language Storytimes are happening this week! Other libraries still have their storytimes running though!

Other highlights this week include Legomania, Geraldine Brooks at Powell's, and Animal Welfare Day at the Beaverton Farmers Market!

May 16th

World Language Storytime in Danish@Beaverton City Library from 10:30-11AM

Check out the World Language Storytimes all week!!! Kids can hear stories read in Danish, Hindi, Russian, German, and Korean. Go to www.beavertonlibrary.org for more info.

Sing, Sign & Story Time@ Tigard Library from 1:15-2PM. This new story time will run through May!!! Local childrens' author and sign language educator-Dawn Prochonvnic- will lead a lively, interactive storytime geared for kids from 3 to 6 years old. Plenty of opportunity to practice signing. Fun for Ones (Ages 12-24 months)@ Tigard Library from 10:30-11AM AND 11:30AM-Noon. Bring your one year old for songs, rhymes, simple stories and movement activities. Great for new walkers. May 18th

Free Admission@ Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden (SE 28th Ave&Woodstock Blvd., Portland) on Tuesdays&Wednesdays from 10AM-6PM.

If you're looking for a quick day trip on a non-rainy day, then check out this gorgeous 7 acre garden with vibrant rhododendrons, azaleas, and 3 waterfalls!!! Stroll down shady paths to Crystal Springs Lake. Kids under 12 are always admitted for free and there's just a $3 charge for adults from Thursday-Monday. Family Day@ The Oregon Historical Society (1200 SW Park Ave., Portland) from 11AM-3PM

Two children admitted free with one paid adult admission! Tour the "Soccer City" and "Peace Corps" exhibits. Family Day will feature an "Around the World Coffee Extravaganza" with free tastings of Stumptown Coffee!!! Animal Welfare Day at Beaverton Farmer's Market@ SW Hall Blvd (across from Beaverton Library)-market from 8AM to 1:30PM, animal event runs from 9AM-1PM. Ask a vet  about animal health and meet with many local organizations that support animals!
